To Benefit: Down Syndrome Association of Connecticut
Rock Your Socks For Literacy
Kick your new year into gear with a run for a great cause! World Down Syndrome Day is March 21st. Down syndrome is caused by an extra copy of the 21st chromosome. Under a microscope it looks like colorful socks!
In the “Before Times,” we’d raise awareness by asking people to wear colorful mismatched socks that day. This year, we’re aiming for glorious good heath, while we raise funds to support our Literacy and Education Center. Walk, run, or roll a 5k, 10k, or 3,210 steps. Send a picture of your mismatched socks to [email protected] and they will post it on their Facebook page!
About the Charity
The Down Syndrome Association of Connecticut (DS ACT) is a statewide organization supporting individuals and families who live with Down syndrome through friendship, education, and advocacy.
The Literacy and Education Center is one of the few Centers in the US focused on enhancing independence of those with a DS learning profile through literacy instruction. They provide after-school tutoring, support schools through professional development, and advance educational best practices through research.
