About this Virtual Run: The Turtle Krawl 5k Run/Walk will be held on September 8, 2018 in Indialantic, Florida. The Turtle Krawl is the largest 5k race in Brevard County and is the Sea Turtle Preservation Society’s biggest fundraiser. Known for gorgeous race shirts and awesome finisher medals, sea turtle lovers from around the world who are unable to attend the physical race have been asking for a virtual Turtle Krawl for years. Due to overwhelming demand, STPS has partnered with Virtual Strides to host the Turtle Krawl virtual 5k.
Run, walk, or ‘krawl’ 3.1 miles whenever and wherever you want to support the sea turtles! All participants will receive a custom digital race bib, a beautiful Turtle Krawl tech shirt featuring artwork from renowned artist Michael “Nemo” Nemnich, and a Turtle Krawl finisher’s medal. This year’s medal is a 3D sea turtle with Nemo’s artwork on the underside.
About the Charity: The Sea Turtle Preservation Society is a not-for-profit, all volunteer organization whose mission is “Helping Sea Turtles Survive.” Not only does STPS provide hands-on services that help sea turtles, but they contribute to research and education efforts as well. STPS’s Educational Outreach Program reaches thousands of people annually through presentations to schools, civic organizations, and public sea turtle education classes. A new education center was recently added adjacent to their gift shop/office and includes exhibits, hands-on and interactive education, and sea turtle videos.
Virtual Strides Partner Event: This event is part of the Virtual Strides Partners Program. The Sea Turtle Preservation Society will receive 100% of the net proceeds from this event after Virtual Strides’ partner costs are deducted.
